Pristine North East beach with miles of ‘unspoilt sands’ ranked third in UK’s must visit list

It’s a beach that is already a huge favourite with locals and tourists who are familiar with it and now Druridge Bay might want to brace itself for an influx of visitors over the coming months, as it has just placed third in a new ranking of the UK’s ‘must visit’ beaches for spring 2026.

It seems somewhat wrong that after dark and dreary January and a February that, let’s be honest, wasn’t much better, that we can now *fingers crossed* actually look forward to brighter days ahead, with temperatures peaking at a dizzy 11 degrees on Monday and talk of the teens in days to come. Of course, us North East folk are made of strong stuff and we don’t necessarily need blue skies and warm sunshine to venture for a walk on the beach and, it would be very fair to say that Druridge Bay is a stunning spot rain or shine, spring, summer, autumn or winter.

A great place to blow the cobwebs away all year round, you could argue that Druridge Bay is often in the shadow of its Northumberland neighbours like Bamburgh, but it is the only North East beach in the list of the best to check out in the UK right now, by famous brand Go Outdoors. The beach shares the highest Google review rating among the top beaches, 4.9 out of 5, making it a firm favourite with visitors.

  • The cosy Seahouses cottage that has availability for a summer staycation
  • The ‘time-travelling’ Northumberland village with a world heritage site on its doorstep

Stretching over seven miles, the beach boasts a beautiful, unspoilt coastline, while nature enthusiasts can enjoy birdwatching and spotting wildlife such as roe deer and red squirrels in the nearby woodlands. Druridge Bay shares 3rd place in the list with Pentle Bay in Tresco, with top spot occupied by Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex, ahead of runner up – Southwold beach in Suffolk.

You only need to look at recent reviews of Druridge Bay to see its position as the highest placed beach in the North East and the top three for the whole of the country is wholly justified. Awarding 5 stars after their trip in October of last year, one very impressed visitor described it as ‘one of the cleanest beaches’ ever, while another 5 star review of Druridge enthuses: ‘Druridge Bay Country Park is an absolute gem, perfect for a family day out. The park’s proximity to the beach is a major highlight; you can enjoy the serene beauty of Druridge Bay’s stunning coastline within just a few minutes’ walk. It’s ideal for a peaceful stroll or letting the kids run wild on the sands.’
