Largest hotel of its kind in Europe to open in Manchester with viaduct views

Manchester city centre will be home to a new hotel claimed to be one of the biggest of its kind in Europe when it opens at the end of next month.

Situated directly above The Deansgate pub and just steps away from the Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink stop, the 358-room Hampton by Hilton Manchester City Centre hotel will open this spring. Overlooking the Castlefield Viaduct, the hotel is 22-storeys high.

Hailed as the largest Hampton by Hilton venue in Europe, beating out the scope of the likes of Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, and Frankfurt, the hotel will feature subtle nods to its location with artwork, installations and interiors set to feature numerous references to the city’s urban character and industrial heritage.

The hotel will feature its own bar and all-day dining restaurant, with all stays including a complimentary hot breakfast which will include the brand’s now-signature Hampton Waffle makers for guests to create their own golden malted waffles. The venue will also feature a 24-hour fitness centre, as well as a meeting and events space which can be used to host private events and conferences. Stays at the hotel are now available to book for dates from April 30, 2026.

Currently priced from £91 a night, the hotel consists of a mix of Queen Compact Rooms, King Rooms, Twin Rooms, and a King Superior Room, with an upgrade option of an additional seating area with sofa sleeper bed. Rooms will include 250 thread count sheets, a comfortable soft seating tub chair, flat panel HDTV, bathroom amenities, and a work area, alongside free use of WiFi.

Hilton said the development – alongside a forthcoming 154-bed Motto by Hilton venue set to open in 2027 – is opening in response to the ‘growing demand’ for accommodation in the city as it hosts leading events, like the BRIT Awards last weekend, which brings in many tourists. Each year, it’s reported that more than four million UK visitors and 1.7 million international tourists visit the city.

“Manchester is a city undergoing exceptional growth, and this opening represents a major milestone for both Dean Street Developments and the wider hospitality landscape,” Adi Hodzic, Managing Director of Dean Street Developments, said. “Hampton by Hilton Manchester City Centre brings a contemporary, intelligently designed product to the city centre, matching the scale and ambition of the city itself.”

Abi Hindle, General Manager of the hotel, added: “We’re thrilled to be opening Europe’s largest Hampton by Hilton in Manchester, a city known for its warm hospitality. We’re certain that the new Hampton by Hilton Manchester City Centre will be a great addition to the city’s already flourishing hospitality landscape, becoming a popular destination for tourists, business travellers, and families alike.”

Nick Smart, Vice President, Development, UK, Ireland and Nordics at Hilton, also said: “We’re proud to partner with Dean Street Developments on the opening of Europe’s largest Hampton by Hilton in Manchester, one of the UK’s most dynamic cities. This project underscores our ambition to expand our presence in high‑growth areas across the UK, working with trusted partners to develop world-class hotels that offer travellers fantastic stays in great destinations.”

There is already an existing Hampton by Hilton hotel, on Rochdale Road in the Northern Quarter, boasting 221 rooms. The four-star hotel opened in November 2020. In June last year, it was announced that the former Hilton hotel within the city’s iconic Beetham Tower had been taken over by HG Hotels and Resorts as part of plans to become the InterContinental Manchester Deansgate.

The Hampton by Hilton Manchester City Centre hotel will be on 325 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 4LQ.
