Hotel which once hosted Michael Sheen celebrates Four in a Bed victory

A hotel which has previously hosted Hollywood star Michael Sheen is celebrating victory after appearing on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed. Bridgend’s Cae Court Hotel came out victorious against three other Welsh hotels in last week’s episodes.

There were also stays in Aberystwyth and Mold in Flintshire, as well as Swansea’s Hooper’s Sandy Beach Guest Rooms. The episodes showcased four different hotels from across Wales competing to be crowned the prestigious champion of Four in a Bed.

They each stay in each other’s respective lodgings and review the locations based on their cleanliness, food, amenities, value for money as well as if they’d stay again. The week concluded with Cae Court Hotel emerging as the top scorer, claiming victory following a round of anonymous assessments.

In the first episode of the series, Steve even revealed that Hollywood actor and Welsh icon Michael Sheen had previously stayed at the hotel. He joked that restaurant bookings shot up the next day when people discovered that the star was staying with them.

In October 2024, the hotel posted: “Hollywood VIP Guest Came to Stay with us!

“Michael Sheen a Hollywood superstar came to Dine and Stay at Gin&Sangria, Cae Court Hotel. The famous Welsh and Hollywood actor has visited the Spanish Cuisine at Cae Court has pleasantly taken time to speak to the Restaurant and Hotel staff.

“Michael Sheen ordered our famous Paella Mixta and has expressed ‘lovely food, nice hotel, and a great building’ to top it off! He said he will be back for more Paella!”

The hotel announced their win on social media on Friday, February 27. They shared: “We’re thrilled to share that we are the winners of Four in a Bed, which wrapped up today! We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who supported us along the way — this wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

Following the final episode, Steve commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won Four in a Bed. Taking part was an incredible experience, and I was proud to personally host the other contestants here in Bridgend – they should all be very proud of their lovely venues too.”

He continued: “Comfort and cleanliness are elements we take a great amount of care about for our guests, and our Spanish breakfast is a real passion project for us, so to see those recognised on national television means a great deal to me, and all our colleagues here at Cae Court. We’re all excited to welcome new guests who discovered us through the show to our hotel and restaurant.”

In addition to the hotel accommodation, Cae Court has cultivated a unique hospitality proposition built around its on-site Spanish eatery, Gin & Sangria. The establishment showcases genuine Mediterranean cuisine in an elegant yet informal environment, offering classic Spanish fare including its signature Paella, complemented by carefully selected beverages.

Throughout the warmer season, visitors can make use of the hotel’s lively outdoor terrace, which they describe as an inviting space ideal for dining outdoors, signature cocktails and leisurely gatherings with companions. They also have a separate lounge bar which offers coffees and Para Picar (sharing tapas plates).
